Shelagh Thiessen grew up in the B.C. Rocky Mountains where she spent her youth exploring the endless natural beauty. She went on to study Landscape Architecture at the University of Guelph where she was introduced to various art forms. Shelagh was taken with figurative drawing and since then enjoys the challenges life drawing offers as she continues to experiment with various mediums and techniques, such as charcoal and acrylic paints. Deeply passionate about the arts, she has volunteered with the local Life Drawing class since 2010, and has been attending drop in sessions since arriving in Whistler in 2002. Her teaching approach focuses on the creative process and experimentation and the atmosphere in her class is playful, relaxed and supportive.
