Ever wanted to make your own puppet? Put on a professional puppet show? Learn the basics of puppetry skills and make your own furry friend with professional puppeteer and puppet-maker Jesse Thom (Thom Foolery Creations). You'll be guided step-by-step through the creation of your own muppet-styled puppet. The personality of this wonder will be all up to you.
Jesse Thom works as a musician/songwriter, short-film maker, author, producer, childcare worker, performer/puppeteer, drum-maker, clown and workshop facilitator. Currently based in Vancouver, Jesse earned a Bachelor of Arts in writing and music from Carleton University in Ottawa. He went on to study Clownology with David Macmurray Smith (Fantastic Space, Vancouver). Besides appearing at countless festivals with his music and puppet shows (including artswells, Victoria Jazz Fest, Winnipeg Folk Fest, Folkwest, Robson Valley, Kispiox, Harrison Children’s Fest, Bella Coola, Campbell Bay Music Fest and the Whistler Children’s Fest), Jesse has worked internationally as a street performer. He is the recipient of a Canadian Arts Medal and his recent book, described as an “existential picture book for grown up children” was nominated for the Ursa Major Award.
