Indigo is one of the oldest and most magical of all the natural dyes. Come spend the day immersed in the history, alchemy and beauty of the natural Indigo plant. In this workshop you will examine the sacred tradition of creating indigo vats, fabric preparation and the delicate process of indigo dyeing. Working with different folding and clamping techniques, students will create unique patterns on two pieces of organic cotton, perfect for wearing as a casual scarf, beach throw or sarong and a 100% cotton tote bag. Students get to feel the excitement of removing and unfolding their work from the dye vat to see the patterns they've created. Leaving the program students will have a basic understanding of how to set up their own dye vats and create their own projects.
