This intermediate-level class covers major, minor, and modified open chords, barre chords, basic major and minor scales, tablature reading, and the art of jamming (and crafting original songs).
Instructor: Sue Stearns
Sue Stearns grew up in a musical family with a house full of pianos, drums, trumpets and guitars. She has been playing the guitar for over 40 years, and has been a member of local rock band Still Smokin’ since 2001. Still Smokin’ has performed at the Pemberton Music Festival as well as on the Whistler Live! Stage during the 2010 Paralympic Games. In 2003, Sue founded the Chicks with Picks program at the Pemberton Community Center and has since coached over 275 students. Sue believes that playing the guitar should be fun. Her teaching method is both encouraging and results-oriented, and allows students to learn basic and recognizable songs so that they are able to see tangible results in a short amount of time.
