This fun and hands on workshop encourages creativity and freedom of expression while providing the basis for a great painting. From the empty canvas to your completed painting this workshop will guide beginners through the techniques of acrylic painting. Are you someone who has always been curious about your artistic side, but don’t know where to start? Are you someone who says, "I can only draw a stick man”? Maybe you paint a little, but love it a lot, and just need guidance to begin painting more? In one jam-packed, fun weekend, you’ll lose the fear of being creatively stuck. You’ll be painting with more purpose and passion in no time!
In this course you will learn:
- How to mix paints and set up your pallet
- The importance of colour composition
- How to create texture
- Paint application techniques
The first day of the workshop students will begin working on a small practice piece. Building and learning from this, on the second day students will then create a bright and engaging final painting.
Instructor:
Andrea is a contemporary artist and art instructor, based in Whistler, BC. Her work is characterized by bold colors, messy loose brush strokes, and darkly playful imagery. She examines the relationship and connection between all things including humans, animals, memory, language, belief systems, the environment, and the impact these have on one another. She also experiments with different types of materials, and often incorporates found objects into her works. Often she references the idiosyncrasies of romantic relationships.
